UPDATE: Victims Identified in New Market Murder
FCSO Continues Investigation
New Market, Md. (August 27, 2024) –The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims who were found deceased in a home in the 7000 block of Mangalong Ct. in New Market as Crimea Malita Baker, 33, of New Market, MD and Sean Antoine Lange, 34, of Arlington, VA.
On Sunday, August 25th, at approximately 7:00 AM, Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in the 7000 Block of Mandalong Ct. in New Market. The call was reported as a shooting. Upon responding, deputies found the deceased victims shot multiple times in an upstairs bedroom. Preliminary investigation indicates the victims were shot at approximately 1:30 a.m. Four children, who were also found inside the home, were unharmed.
Detectives believe the victims were living together at the time of their murders. Baker is the mother of all four children found inside the home. Lange is the father of one of the children.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating this case as a double murder. At this time, there is no indication that this was a random killing.
Detectives have not yet identified a suspect(s) involved in this case.
“This was a heinous targeted double murder, a crime of rage and anger. This is the type of crime that shocks the conscience of Frederick County residents. There is absolutely no reason to believe there is any risk or threat to the local public at large. I can assure the public that every available investigator and agency resource will be brought to bear in this case until the person(s) responsible are identified, arrested, and brought to justice,” Sheriff Chuck Jenkins.
