New Market, Md. (September 30, 2024) – On Saturday, September 28th at 6:20 pm, Fort Lauderdale Police and The Federal Bureau of Investigations in partnership with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Phillip Turner, 33, of Miami, FL after an arrest warrant was issued for the August 25, 2024, murders of Crimea Malita Baker and Sean Antoine Lange.
“Sheriff’s Office detectives have worked tirelessly, seven days a week for over a month with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies to identify the person responsible for these shocking murders. This investigation has been a priority of this office since the morning of the shootings. In anxiously waiting for closure and the arrest of the person responsible, the public has been extremely patient and can now be completely confident that this was a targeted domestic-related murder. I extend my thanks to the Lake Linganore Community for their assistance in the investigation and their patience while we worked to apprehend the murderer. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to ensure the safety of Frederick County,” Sheriff Chuck Jenkins.
On Sunday, August 25th, at approximately 7:00 AM, Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in the 7000 Block of Mandalong Ct. in New Market. The call was reported as a shooting. Upon responding, deputies found the deceased victims, later identified as Baker and Lange, shot multiple times in an upstairs bedroom. A Preliminary investigation indicated the victims were shot at approximately 1:25 a.m. Four children, who were also found inside the home, were unharmed.
Detectives believe the victims were living together at the time of their murders. Baker is the mother of all four children found inside the home. Lange is the father of one of the children.
Turner is charged with two counts of 1st degree murder, Home Invasion, and two counts of use of a firearm in a crime of violence or felony. He is currently being held at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Florida awaiting extradition back to Maryland.
The Miami Beach Police Department, Miami-Dade Police Department, and Broward County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in this case.
