The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is honored to host this website as an informational resource for the citizens of Frederick County and others who are interested in the role and operations of the Office of Sheriff. As an introduction, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is a full-service Sheriff’s Office with roles as the primary law enforcement agency in Frederick County, responsibility for management and operations of the adult detention center, and the responsibility for civil process service and security within the county courthouse. I have had the privilege of serving as Sheriff for Frederick County since December of 2006.

The men and women of this agency, in both law enforcement and corrections, as well as civilian support staff, are committed to serving the citizens of Frederick County in the most effective and efficient ways possible with the highest level of integrity, all while treating everyone fairly with dignity and respect. This agency has evolved to be a leader in law enforcement and corrections across the State of Maryland, the region, and nationwide. We are very well trained and professional in the delivery of those services, with sound and effective policies in place. 

 

We have been effective in combating and reducing serious crime in Frederick County. This is a critical part of our enforcement mission. Our overall goal is to maintain the outstanding quality of life that we enjoy in a safe and growing community. The current heroin and opioid crisis has been a priority for this office through the implementation of effective enforcement strategies, education, community involvement, and awareness efforts.

As the county grows, priorities shift and new challenges present themselves. This agency will grow and adapt, continuing to provide the best level of service possible to the citizens. I will continue to recruit and hire the very best men and women, provide the best training available, and equip them with the tools and technology to perform their duties safely and efficiently.

Frederick County is my lifelong home, where I am totally invested, having raised my family with a lifetime of community involvement. While in office, I have come to learn that there is no elected office closer to the people they serve than the Sheriff. After 33 years of law enforcement service including more than 16 as Sheriff, I will continue to work hard to maintain the public trust and keep Frederick County safe.
